Ali's Blog - March 10th 2019

Well I thought I would give this blog another go, practice makes perfect. I will endeavor to update monthly so here goes with March 2019

Pain Mid -Notts Goes Live

Our Mid Notts pain service has gone live and we have started to receive referrals from GP practices. I would like to welcome our 2 new members of the team to PICS. Mandy Buckley, our new Physio/Pain practitioner and Vas Georgopoulos our new physio who is also undertaking his PhD at the University of Nottingham. We wish them every success in their new roles with us

Business Update

New Posts

I am thinking about our current structures and our recent growth. I am looking at expanding some of our corporate support structures including a finance and HR assistant to help with some of our future work.

Intranet

Stephen has been leading on some work to develop an intranet for us to improve our communication. We are looking for an interactive forum where we can all learn together.

Hospital at Home

We have finally been given the go ahead to start this project and are looking at recruitment to commence ASAP. This is a project where we will work with NUH to support safe discharge for respiratory patients from the wards. We will support their care for two weeks and then transfer them to community respiratory nurses or their GP. During Wendy's convalescence Ali Sutherland (Ali 1) will be supporting mobilising this project.

The Primary Care Space

I have been attending meetings recently around Primary Care Networks. They are locality populations of between 30-50,000 patients and are centered around local GP practices. Some may have known these as locality groups. The next few months will see general practice working more collaboratively on projects and sharing staff. This will develop to encompass wider groups including community services, voluntary groups and social care.

We are progressing well at Meden Vale and continue to work hard to support the practice.

I hope you all have a great week: Remember PICsies be brave and:

"If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try"
