American Lindsey Vonn will not have the chance to add to her two world gold medals in the downhill and Super-G after being ruled out of Thursday’s giant slalom because of a cut thumb.  With the 2010 Winter Olympics right around the corner, I’ll be spotlighting certain athletes that you need to have your eye on. And I mean really have your eye on them. These ladies are as hot as they are good at what they do.

Today we’re looking at the newest Sports Illustrated cover girl and the face of the U.S. Olympic team, Lindsey Vonn. The downhill skier is considered almost a lock for gold and, as a bonus, she’s super hot. Are, Sweden  – Lindsey Vonn of the United States clinched a second straight overall World Cup title in alpine skiing in style on Wednesday by winning a downhill ahead of German title rival Maria Riesch.

Vonn, 24, clocked 1 minute 42.49 seconds on the 2,638-metres Olympia course at the World Cup finals. Riesch had 1:42.89 and Austrian veteran Renate Goetschl was third on the podium in 1:43.75 minutes.

Vonn has 1,688 points and, with a victory worth 100 points, can not be caught by Riesch (1,299) in the final three season races. She also dominated the downhillWorld Cup with a final tally of 502 points from Austrian Andrea Fischbacher (326).

Bansko, Bulgaria  – Lindsey Vonn of the United States moved closer to winning the overall alpine ski women’s World Cup title with a third successive super-g victory Sunday. The 24-year-old title-holder clocked 1 minute 14.49 seconds at the Bulgarian resort of Bansko, 0.58 seconds ahead of Fabienne Suter of Switzerland and 0.91 seconds up on Tina Maze of Slovenia.

Suter moves ahead in the super-g standings with one race remaining, 15 points ahead of Vonn, while previous leader Nadia Fanchina of Italy slipped to third after finishing seventh.
